India's Emergency Power Support to Nepal Links Neighbourhood Diplomacy with Grid Resilience
India's Ministry of Power approved electricity exports to the Nepal Electricity Authority for 18 hours each day, from midnight to 18:00, between 13 September and 31 December 2026. The approval permits up to 600 MW through the Muzaffarpur-Dhalkebar 400 kV double-circuit line and up to 54 MW through the Tanakpur-Mahendranagar 132 kV single-circuit line. The quantum for January 2027 onward will be reviewed in December.
