The built-in UPSC Exam Guide
Dooit ships a complete, read-anytime Exam Guide written for first-time aspirants: the three stages of the UPSC Civil Services Examination, the key statistics, the full Prelims and Mains syllabus, and what the Interview really assesses. It costs nothing to read and never counts against any limit.
How to open it
- Open the app — you land on Home.
- Scroll to the QUICK LINKS list at the bottom.
- Tap Know Your Exam ("UPSC syllabus, structure & strategy guide").
The guide opens under the title KNOW YOUR EXAM with the subtitle UPSC CIVIL SERVICES EXAMINATION. It is bundled with the app, so it loads instantly and works without waiting on the network.
The three stages of the exam
The first section, THE JOURNEY, lays out the 3-stage roadmap with one card per phase:
- Prelims — the screening test: 2 papers, 400 marks, held on 1 day (late May). Key fact on the card: only Paper I marks count for qualifying; Paper II (CSAT) needs just 33% to pass.
- Mains — the written examination: 9 papers, 1750 marks, spread across 5 days (September).
- Interview — the personality test: 275 marks, 30–45 minutes (March–April).
A FINAL RANKING FORMULA card then shows how your rank is computed: Mains 1750 + Interview 275 = a total of 2025 marks. Prelims marks do not carry into the final ranking.
The numbers behind the exam
The THE NUMBERS section gives you honest scale: roughly 12 lakh apply, 5–6 lakh actually appear, around 12,000–15,000 clear Prelims, and about 800–1,000 are finally selected — a success rate under 0.1%. As the guide puts it: this is why preparation matters. These figures come from UPSC notifications and refresh with app updates, not live.
Syllabus, paper by paper
Three reference sections follow, each with expandable cards:
- PRELIMS SYLLABUS ("2 Papers • Objective MCQs • 1 Day") — Paper I General Studies (200 marks, 100 questions, 2 hours, one-third negative marking) and the qualifying Paper II CSAT, each with full topic and subtopic lists.
- MAINS SYLLABUS ("9 Papers • Descriptive • 5 Days") — every Mains paper, including the Optional: choose one subject from 48 options, written as two 250-mark papers.
- INTERVIEW / PERSONALITY TEST — a card with the 275 marks and 30–45 minute format, a WHAT THEY ASSESS list (mental alertness, clear expression, balance of judgment and more) and a PRO TIPS list (know your DAF, be honest, do mock interviews).
Tap any paper card to expand its topics. When you reach the bottom, the START PREPARING button takes you back to Home — a natural next stop is generating your study plan.
